This new sport is finally and especially the story of an encounter between two worlds that had initially unlikely to merge: the world of skiing and riding world. A crew of Horse Surfing is an inseparable trio « Cavalier + Surfer + Horse ». The wealth of sport born from this privileged relationship and all interactions that result.

A surfer is pulled by a horse and a rider, galloping on the beach at the water’s edge. This crew can reach speeds of over 50km/h. The rider can perfom tricks and jump slipped taking call on a wave or a springboard. A variant of Horse Surfing is his earthly practice, using a mountainboard on the wet sand of the beach or in the dirt .

This new sport not requires mechanic traction to be practiced. No need to motorboat to move and have fun.

It is open at all board-riders.

This new discipline is a fabulous land of expression for surfers, wakeboarders, kitesurfers and skimboarders who can all practice their favorite discipline, in Horse-Surfing version with the material they are used to use. However, it is necessary to have a good level of practice to not over-apply the horse or hurt in a fall in water depth.

It is open at all:

Just have a horse on the edge of the sea to consider practicing Horse Surfing. However, tow a surfer does’nt improvise an it’s obvious that a very good level of riding and an excellent knowledge oh his mount needed before considering any attempt. It should finally get traction equipment adapted (see below in equipment).

 

Equipment: 

Board:

Many types of boards can be used. The easiest way is probably to use a kiteboard or wakeboard but it is also possible to use a surfboard (with or without the straps), a wakeskate board, a skimboard or a pair of water skis. It all depends on practice that wishes to focus on surfing.

Tow rope:

The most sensible is to use a spreader wakeboard type and a length of rope around 20m. The spreader cors is connected directly to the harness wom by the horse and secured with a snap hook. It’s possible to lengthen the ropde to allow the surfer away from the board and surf the offshore waves.

Harness:

It’s important to use a very specific, harness develop primarily to fit the anatomy oh the horse and the efforts that will be required during practice. based on our 10 years of experience, we have developed a device that precisely meets these expectations. This harness is partly inspired by classic harness and pull the device used for the practice of our nordic cousin the Ski Joering. It will soon be available for sale under the brand EQUISURF.

Protection:

To the extend that this sport is practiced in very shallow water (see on a thin stalk water 2/3 cm) are strongly advised to surf to equip a helmet and protection for knees, elbows and wrists ti absord a little bit hard impacts consecutive falls at high speed.
